Self-described shenaniganist and unabashed romantic, Cameron wrote her first romance novel on an antique typewriter, using a stack of pink paper. Detours between that draft and her publishing goals have included a BA in Music, a professional culinary education, and twelve years in the child-wrangling industry. A Beach Bag Essential Read!

Buck's Landing is the first in the New England Seacoast Romances from Cameron D. Garriepy. Set in Hampton Beach, New Hampshire Buck's Landing is an impeccable romance, perfect for tucking into your beach bag -- even if your beach bag is actually an over-sized purse and your only free reading time happens late on a chilly Michigan evening.
Garriepy brings Hampton Beach to life with her attention to detail and obvious appreciation for the beauty of the sleepy little town Sofia Buck works so hard to shake from her enviable brunette curls. She makes you yearn to walk along the boardwalk, inhale a serving of Blink's Fry Doe (with powdered sugar and cinnamon), and sink into the moonlit sand to watch Chinese lanterns or turn loose your thoughts to the crashing waves of the Atlantic. In her hands, Hampton Beach is more than a setting; it's a crucial third main character.
Sofia and Silas Wilde find their lives colliding as they settle into opposite trajectories in Buck's Landing. Silas is beginning his life there after leaving his lucrative and emotionally-empty life in New York City, and Sofia is wrapping up the loose ends of her deceased father's life in a place she ran from as soon as she had the means to do so.
Billed as a romance, Buck's Landing doesn't disappoint: the attraction between Silas and Sofia is palpable, alternately electric and tender, and the obstacles they encounter, from her lingering anger with her father to a potential job in enticing Santorini, are authentic and complicated.
Garriepy's writing style is sensual, and not just in her romantic details. She peppers Buck's Landing with lush descriptions that make her characters and their lives unique and personable -- Silas, Sofia, and Hampton Beach are all written in a way that is utterly unforgettable.
While the unfolding relationship between Sofia and Silas is obviously the cornerstone of Garriepy's story, other elements are at play here.
Sofia, in particular, is dealing with figuring out how to reconcile a painful past with a place that draws her in like the tide. Selling Buck's Landing, a multi-generational family business means a clean break, but it also means sacrificing her deceased mother's kitchen to the whims of seaside developers.
Garriepy's narration style, which gently rocks between Sofia and Silas, allows the reader to become fully invested in their individual happiness as well as their future as a couple, making Buck's Landing a delicious read -- even if, like me, you can't take it to the actual beach with you right now.

Perfect Beach Read

I know it's winter, but this book made me feel like I was on a hot beach with salt on my tongue and love in the air.
For that alone, I'd give it five stars.
With rich descriptions, a leading man I could fall for, and a heroine I could be friends with, Buck's Landing was the sort of book I love to read and then read again. The secondary characters made me hope Garriepy turns this novel into a series and the descriptions of Blink's Fried Doe had me googling. If you read the other reviews, you'll get a solid idea of what the books about. I'll just say I couldn't put it down and when I finally turned the last page, I let out a little sigh of happiness and turned to face the wreck my house had become while I was at the beach.

Surf, Sand & Sexy!

I don't read many romances (I'm a scary story kinda girl), but every once in a while I need a little of the big "R". Buck's Landing delivered everything I love in a romance story - sizzling chemistry, steamy scenes that deliver heat without being raunchy, humor, and well-developed characters moving in a tight, believable plot. And as the cherry on the sundae, Cameron Garriepy can weave a world so beautifully imagined and so honestly written that I found myself right there on the beach with the smell of the salt air in my nostrils. The lights, sounds, scents, and summer excitement of the boardwalk's carnival vibe was particularly enjoyable. A great, satisfying read.
