Review
***** "As one who was duped by the public schools of the 1950s, this book hits me hard. The lies of society were the main reason I dropped out in the late 1960s. The results of those lies are seen in our modern self-centered, sin-driven culture of rebellion.
This book will give you all the ammunition you need to get yourself straightened out and those you know and love. I recommend you get it and read it. Just the footnotes are worth the price of the book. They worked hard and gave us their research. You need to read this book." Goodreads David Bergsland

From the Author
We wrote this book out of a passion to reach people who want to save our country and to see it do right. Understanding and proving that Secular Humanism is a religion means going all the way back to Nimrod and his Tower of Babel, back to where man tried to build a "Stargate" and put himself on the throne where God belongs. Kings and priests have worked together to make us forget truth and remember the lie that man can be a god. America is the only nation ever founded to protect belief from the government religion's interference, persecution, control, and its ultimate goal of destroying all opposing views. We can't let it go the way of all the world.

From the Inside Flap
Excerpted from Chapter 14--What Does the Scientific Evidence Prove?
Integrity without knowledge is weak and useless, and knowledge without integrity is dangerous and dreadful.
Samuel Johnson
Christians, unfortunately, believe that science is an enemy. There is good reason, since most who use the word "science" have completely abandoned Johnson's demand that integrity go hand in hand with knowledge, replacing truth with selective evidence which supports preconceived conclusions. Christians should not develop either an antagonism toward true science or ignore the very real contributions of true science. Neither should true scientists ignore the very real foundation of science in Christianity. Dennis Prager, anthropologist and historian, laments the unthinking reliance on pseudo-science in today's society.
In much of the West, the well-educated have been taught to believe they can know nothing and they can draw no independent conclusions about truth, unless they cite a study and 'experts' have affirmed it. 'Studies show' is to the modern secular college graduate what 'Scripture says' is to the religious fundamentalist.
In everyday life, probably the greatest area of conflict between Christianity and those who misuse the word science is moral relativism. This came about because of the dishonest use of the word relativity. The theories of relativity (special and general) neither support nor have any reference to moral relativism. The similarity in the sound of the words is simply a propaganda technique. Neither do the moral absolutes of the Word of God belittle true science. However, since the established religion of Secular Humanism teaches just the opposite, the following list of scientific facts can help us understand that true science can only be explained by the world as described in the Bible.

Eye glasses for all -- including stubborn secular humanists
By Marlene Frey, autodidact
Like the other one reviewer of this book, I did not read it. However, I read most of what was available on the "Look Inside" material. I have read and supported true science -- creation science, thinking God's thoughts after HIm -- for decades. Therefore, I would recommend Antidisestablishmentarianism to all readers who want to know truth, and who desire to develop a worldview and a personal lifeview based on truth.

It seems to be a good summary of much that I have read and studied over the past 40 years. From whenever it was in my youth that I was aware of my own critical thinking, when I encountered the idea of macro-evolution, it simply made no sense because it was not based on cause and effect, but merely on ungrounded postulations of those who do not want to acknowledge the existence of a Being whom they just might need to hear and obey.

I would, in caring and concern, direct them to the excellent free resources at icr.org (Institute for Creation Research) and AnswersInGenesis.org. These websites are also excellent resources for those who "kind of think" that macro-evolution may not be true, and that there is scientific truth to be learned in the Word of God and the carefully examined universe He created. Such seekers will be well-rewarded w/strong, evidence-based information to undergird their possibly now but weakly held, yet true thoughts regarding the essential nature and cause and final destiny of all we now perceive, and of that which is yet to be seen.

FINDLEYS REWRITING HISTORY OR DELUSIONAL
By Keith Renn
It's Aug 27, 2014 and I'm writing this addendum to my original Jul 20, 2012 review (further below) in response to a comment posted by Susan on Aug 24, 2014. It's also clear this addendum needs to be included because the references in my original review applied to verbiage on the Amazon page for the Kindle Edition (the only edition available at that time) of Michael J. and Mary C. Findley's book "Antidisestablishmentarianism" which is no longer there -- having been either removed by the book's authors or for some other reason. Further, I never replied to the comment to my review posted by Michael J. Findley on Jul 24, 2012 because I thought his response was somewhat disingenuous and seemed to muddy the waters rather than address point-by-point my criticisms. For example, because I misspelled (a simple typo) his last name as "Finley" instead of "Findley" on three of fourteen occasions in my review, Michael wrote, "In conclusion, Keith Renn, you spelled our names incorrectly once [3 actually]. Should we attack you as incompetent and unethical for your error the way you attacked us?"

Here's Susan's comment of Aug 24, 2014: "You say, 'The Findlays say...' five times. If you never read the book, how do you know what they say? Just confused..."

As I said above, "... the references in my original review applied to verbiage on the Amazon page... which is no longer there -- having been either removed by the book's authors or for some other reason."

Susan, each of the five numbered "The Findleys say" assertions in my original review -- in which I indicated the Findleys were WRONG -- were in either the "Book Description" section (and not the "Editorial Reviews" section) or the Kindle "jacket" (which I no longer see) of the Amazon page for this book on Jul 20, 2012. (And, again, only a Kindle version was available at that time.)

Today the "Book Description" section on the Amazon page for the Kindle Edition contains these inane assertions:
* "Secular Humanism is a Religion of Mythology."
* Secular humanism is an "historic poison."
* "The so-called 'separation principle' actually supports biblical training..." -- by that I suppose the Findley's are referring to the Establishment Clause of the First Amendment to the United States Constitution.
* "...secularism today is still the worship of self."
* "The religion called Secular Humanism gets financial support and unlimited power." -- from just where and who, at this point, they fail to say.
* Secular Humanism "... promises disgrace and destruction for all who oppose it."
* "Scientific facts prove that 'deep time is impossible." -- I won't even ask..!!
* Secular Humanism must be stopped "... or belief and freedom will be things of the past in America."

One can only wonder how so much nonsense can be packed into a 108-word Book Description.

Just to wrap this up... I respect anyone's right to hold and express their religious beliefs. But when any zealot, acting either individually or collectively, drifts into the realm of "Black Helicopters" -- disguised as "Secular Humanism" in this case -- then I believe reasoned pushback is in order -- especially when the perpetrators of this kind of fantasy play fast-and-loose with the facts and have the ultimate goal of imposing their irrational beliefs on me (although I'm sure they'd claim otherwise).

Finally, I just want to again say that the Supreme Court NEVER held that "secular humanism is a religion" as was clearly and repeatedly asserted by the Findley's on both their blog (which after a brief search I'm now unable to find on the internet) and the Jul 20, 2012 Amazon page for their (then Kindle only) book "Antidisestablishmentarianism." For anyone who's interested in just how entensive their misrepresentation of fact was (and I imagine still is) I ask that you reread my original review and do the same or similar internet-searches.

Thanks for listening.

*************************** My Orignal Review of Jul 20, 2012 is Below *****************************

"The United States Supreme Court has held that secular humanism is a religion. Belief in evolution is a central tenet of that religion." (McLean v. Arkansas Board of Education, 1982)."

So say Michael J. and Mary C. Findley... both on the jacket ("Inside Flap") of their Kindle book entitled "Antidisestablishmentarianism" and at "The Blog of Michael J. and Mary C. Findley and the Findley Family Video Publications."

Their blog regurgitates the opening quote (above), but adds a supporting footnote.:

"The United States Supreme Court has held that secular humanism is a religion. Belief in evolution is a central tenet of that religion."3 Justice Antonin Scalia McLean v. Arkansas Board of Education, 1982.

3 McLean v. Arkansas Board of Education, 1982. Justice Antonin Scalia's dissenting opinion Chief Justice William Rehnquist concurring with Scalia."

Now, for anyone who cares to Google "McLean v. Arkansas Board of Education" -- and go down the rabbit hole -- you'll learn the following:

* McLean v. Arkansas Board of Education was tried (with a decision in early 1982) by the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Arkansas -- NOT the US Supreme Court.
* The "dissenting opinion" of Justices Scalia and Rehnquist cited by the Finley's was in the 1987 US Supreme Court case of Edwards v. Aguillard -- NOT McLean v. Arkansas Board of Education.
* Edwards v. Aguillard held that creationism is a religious doctrine -- NOT a scientific field of study -- and accordingly ruled as unconstitutional a then existing Louisiana Law mandating its teaching along with evolution.
* Footnote (5) of the dissenting opinion in Edwards v. Aguillard (written by Justice Scalia) states, "The United States Supreme Court has held that secular humanism is a religion" and that "Belief in evolution is a central tenet of that religion."
* However, as indicated within the actual footnote, Scalia attributes these two quotes to Senator Bill Keith, a Louisiana legislator who was instrumental in writing the bill just found unconstitutional by the Edwards v. Aguillard decision.

Let's now attempt to climb out of the Findley's Rabbit Hole... and it IS a rabbit hole.

1) The Findleys say the case of McLean v. Arkansas Board of Education was tried by the US Supreme Court -- WRONG.
2) The Findleys say the Supreme Court held that secular humanism is a religion and evolution is a central tenet of that religion -- WRONG.
3) The Finleys say the case of McLean v. Arkansas Board of Education held that secular humanism is a religion and evolution is a central tenet of that religion -- WRONG.
4) The Findleys say the Justices Scalia and Rehnquist dissented in McLean v. Arkansas Board of Education -- WRONG.
5) The Findleys attribute the remarks "secular humanism is a religion" and "belief in evolution is a central tenet of that religion" to Justice Scalia -- WRONG (Justice Scalia, in his dissenting opinion in Edwards v. Aguillard was simply quoting Louisiana senator Bill Keith).

The QUESTION is: How can the Findleys get things So-o-o very WRONG.

The ANSWER obviously is that they're deliberating misleading people.

SHAME on both Michael J. and Mary C. Finley.

P.S. I found my way to this book through an Amazon review written by its authors of Nicholas Carr's book "The Shallows: What the Internet Is Doing to Our Brains." That is, Michael and Mary C. Findley wrote a review of Carr's book which had a link to their book.

Admittedly, I haven't read their book... but after this stunt of theirs, why would I.
