The Chalice, by John F. Kenealy

"Indiana Jones meets Christian Grey" "A wild and wooly adventure set in the Maine wilderness." "If you like Dan Brown or Clive Cussler, you'll love this book!" Sean O’Neill is a disillusioned high school social studies teacher who gave up his dream of earning a PhD in Archaeology to raise a family. In his quest for self-fulfillment, Sean discovers a legend about the 1724 massacre of the Norridgewock Indian Village and its French Jesuit missionary, Father Sebastien Rasle. Legend has it that Father Rasle’s chalice had been hidden in the wilderness of Maine, some thirty miles up the Kennebec River by an Indian brave. As it turns out, Father Rasle was a member of a secret Jesuit society, the Shambhalati, who were charged with safekeeping the whereabouts of the mythical land of Shambhala. The chalice, the last yet to be discovered, of an original seven, contains the final piece of the map to Shambhala. The tall, handsome, Sean O’Neill enlists his wife and best friends to join him on his quest to discover the lost chalice, and must battle Tibetan warriors and Nazi Shambhalists, including the sadistic Übermensch, Klaus Richter, on his way to seek fame and fortune.

About the Author
I am a special education teacher who is currently working on a PhD. I minored in history in college and utilize this knowledge and interest in my writing. I live on a trout stream in central Maine with my wife, three kids, a golden retriever and a varying number of cats. I enjoy fly fishing, camping, canoeing, sailing, hiking, and, of course, writing.

good read
By Douglas J Johnston
I found the story line interesting from the start. I live in Maine and always enjoy books which take place there. I feel that the author is off the a good start with his writings. He paints a very vivid world in which the reader finds themselves drawn into.. I found the graphic sex and violence a bit too much, but to each his own. I also thought that some of the dialog was repetitive. I do look forward to the next book in the series....John...keep up the good work....

great escape read
By Heather Winkopp
I knew this was a good book because I was thinking about the characters during my drive to work. Although, I've never been to Maine, I could feel the author's affinity with the beauty of this place that was a backdrop to an action packed adventure. If you are looking for a great escape read that will transport you around the world, this is a great choice for you. I'm happy to hear the author, John Kenealy, has already started a second book in the series. Download this or pack it in your bag for your next flight or vacation.

Very poor writing.
By Dog Mom
If you want to write a book, I think it might be an excellent idea to figure out the difference between past and present tense! This "author" obviously slept through English 101. Started in past tense, jumped to first for a couple of paragraphs - back to past. It might have been a good story but I simply could not get past the poor grammar. The trouble with all these self-published "authors" is that they are in such a hot hurry to write a book and publish it, they don't take the time to learn their craft. Or learn to edit. Or rewrite. Why do you think this book is self-published? No publisher would buy it.
