    This book documents the hundred year trajectory of the history of "scientific racism" from its initial intentions to create "a race of masters" to the Holocaust, which resulted from Hitler's conviction to create a "master race". These scientific prejudices and political dogmas are as relevant today as they were leading up to WWII. A thorough understanding of the origins of this movement is in order.

Highly recommended

This is a mammoth book, almost 800 pages of, it looks, like 9 point type. It is one of the most detailed, well documented, books ever published that documents the leading scientists in both US and Germany were responsible for writing the infamous racial legislation of both the US and the Third Reich. These scientists, doctors, and legislators were in prestigious positions in various universities within the United States and Hitler's Germany. Many of the ghastly experiments credited to Mengele and other doctors were ordered or approved by high-ranking scientists. Many of these German doctors and scientists were set free after being captured after World War II because the need for doctors and professors after the war was great, and prosecuting them would have decimated the ranks of the medical profession, because so many were involved. The book published by the Holocaust Museum in the United States documents the same point in far fewer pages. Author Samaan's book goes into far more detail. Highly recommended.

EXPOSING AMERICA'S DARK LINKS TO HISTORY

DO NOT let the title, the size, the look of the book cover or even the reviews deter you from investing in reading this book. Although the title and the book cover convey a 100 hundred year history that ends with the Nuremburg trials, those 100 years of history and their synergistic links are incredibly relevant today (2015), and especially for our understanding of American history.

This 100 year history will expose the synergistic links of Progressive Liberalism and totalitarianism as it advances through American and world history. The reader will be introduced, in varying degrees, to various ideologies like atheism, Marxism, evolution, slavery, eugenics, racial segregation, sterilization, birth control, and Nazi Fascism via Hitler. In addition, the reader will be exposed to how these ideologies are linked and how they birthed new ideologies and drove totalitarian agendas, which are still in existence today, but with a changed name and a hidden historical past.

It is hard to capture in words the astounding effect this book is having in reshaping my understanding of history and reforming my worldview. My only wish is that the author would have gone back further to the late 1700’s to early 1800’s to include the ideologies associated with the “enlightenment” where science, reason, or man usurps God as Sovereign and places man/science/reason as sovereign. It is here that we see the exaltation of ideologies and philosophies that are being promoted to move society from a society that has historically worshipped God as its highest good to a secular society that worships something else in place of God as its highest good. If that time period were included to show this theological transition, then what would become more apparent to the reader is how the Bible records in history what happens to a society that once worshipped God as the highest good (basis for the founding of America) and left to worship something else as its highest good.

There is some additional information about the structure and format the reader should know about. The author fails to make it clear that this book is an "advanced readers copy". This is clarified in the book’s website but not in this copy. The author released his findings in paperback prior to finalizing them in hardbound as the vast amount of original research demanded this.

The reader should know it is an imposing book by its appearance and size. However, once you open up the book and just read the first page, which the author wisely utilizes to explain to the reader how, what, and why he wrote the book, you are drawn in and you will be hooked.

So, here is a book that the author literally invested 10-15 years of real, true, honest-to-goodness investigative research where he actually went to where the evidence was. These were places not many of us have ever visited and may not wish to, and in some cases, do not even know they existed. His experience about seeing, smelling, touching actual Nazi paraphernalia lends to the emotive force of his words as he begins to share a history that not many, if any of us, fully knew until you read the book.

The structure and format of the book is somewhat unique. Instead of explicitly numbered chapters with thematic titles, what you have are time periods or what I call “epochs”. These epochs work backward from the time period of Hitler to the time period of Carl Marx. I believe the author structured the book in this manner as a way of simulating the performance an autopsy. And like an autopsy, you work comprehensively and backwards, that is, you go deeper into the body to uncover the disease that led not only to this man’s death, but the death of over 60 million people.

This style also permits him to interject relevant points connected to our current time and culture which exposes the impact of that hidden history on our time. I found that this writing style presented the historical narrative like a documentary where the information flowed smoothly from one point to the next while showing its contemporary relevance alongside its historical relevance.

Intriguing Analysis of 1930-40s Nazi Germany with Applications for 2010-20s America

As people’s understanding of fascism and World War II fade with time’s inexorable push into the future, A.E. Samaan delivers an important analysis of those days that readers today would be wise to read. Deftly laying out the foundation of ideas that led to Hitler’s mad socialist utopia, Samaan takes the novel approach of examining history in reverse so that he can show how branches of seemingly disparate ideas came together into one almost impenetrable mass. Many of those root lines of thought that led to Nazism still exist today, and his book is a stark warning of what can happen if we follow such thinking to its conclusion.

Two becomes a One-derful series

I have loved the Baby for the Billionaire series, and was surprised to read about Damian, Trinity's friend from The Tycoon's Vacation. I can't believe it took me so long to figure out who Damian was. This is a wonderful series and combines the Billionaire Bachelors series with Sierra a friend of Bree in Billionaire Heiress.
We begin with a background of Damian and his mother, a tragic life full of pain and disappointment.
Then we met Sierra as hurt and traumatized as Damian, yet where his pain and tormenter are in the past Sierra's is all too close.
Damian and Sierra meet as a result of Damian's desire for revenge against the wrong done to his father, mother and the loss of his baby sister.
Spoilers
In the Billionaire Finial Stand we get the story of Andrew Anderson, while telling Andrew's story we get to hear how Katherine and Joseph met and fell in love. While telling her story Katherine relates how Joseph returned to save the company from his uncle who was trying to destroy it. His uncle unsuccessfully bids to be the next CEO and fails; he leaves with his girlfriend and later dies. His girlfriend show up at Katherine's with an infant and asks for help; before Joseph and Katherine can help she steals from them and leaves. Joseph has been searching for her and her child for 30 years.
Damian under the mistaken belief that Joseph has ruined his father's chance at the company that lead to his death, and later his mother's, wants revenge and works toward that end. He meets Sierra's father and works a deal that will get him in with the Anderson's. As Sierra is Bree's best friend he seduces Sierra knowing little about her life with her father, believing that she is a spoiled, socialite.
Sierra has been brutally beaten by her father since her mother's death when she was 6 yrs old. She believes she is being hired for P.R. for Damian unaware of his relationship to the Andersons. Sierra is terrified of her father and will go to any lengths to get away. Damian takes Sierra to Australia, but after a week of sexual tension Sierra just wants to leave and go stay with Bree. Damian talks her out of leaving and they start spending time together as the week ends Sierra leaves to Bree. Damian follows and again convinces Sierra to be with him; Sierra begins to fall in love with him and finally gets him to explain why he is so angry with the Anderson's. Sierra is able with help from Bree to help Damian speak with Joseph and Katherine; they explain what happened with Damian's father and mother. Damian feels betrayed by Sierra and leaves.
Sierra is trying to put her life in order, after Damian leaves she stays with Bree finds a job and tires to move on without Damian. As the holidays are approaching she returns to her father's house to retrieve items left behind believing her father is away. She is attacked and severally injured, while in the hospital Damian comes to see her. Again they reconnect and Damian is finally able to have the family that he was denied for so long.

I would have given this story a 5 but one thing stood out, to introduce an event and then drop it nothing became of it and it was forgotten I found this confusing.

This was a great addition to such a wonderful series; both families have become so dear. I hope M.A. will continue the series with a story on Damian's sister (hint, hint, nudge, nudge).

On a side note... I write this not as a critic but a lover of books, I hope all who may read my reviews takes the time to enjoy and create their own opinions.

I was not disappointed with this book and I was thoroughly impressed that Melody Anne was able to tie my 2 favorite billionaire families together. I think the sex gets hotter with each book. Once I started reading I could not stop.

The Tycoon' s Secret

I was disappointed in this book. It was nothing close to the other books in the series. Sierra was verbally and physically abused by her father. When she ends up working for Damien Whitfield thanks to her father, he turns out to be domineering, hard-nosed and extremely demanding. Yet the minute he wants her she falls into his arms like all those years of abuse never happen. There is one scene where she's run from him and sought refuge with her friend. He goes after her and is confronted by all the men in her friend's family about his intentions. A few minutes later, he has Sierra alone, is furious with her for running, confronts her, then picks her up and carries her away in his car. No sign of all the alpha males or her friend. When he pulls the car over, she hops out and runs again, conveniently into a secluded area where he grabs her, practically threatens her, then proceeds to ravishing her. Again, she falls into his arms and begs him to take her. Puhleeze! Rather unbelievable to my way of thinking and selling the reader short by even writing it.

Should be on every business person's bookshelf

Graphic Design Exposed
If you're in business for yourself or for someone else, you probably use or need to use some kind of graphics design help. Maybe it's for something as simple as a flyer, or as complicated as a website. Well, if you've ever tried doing those things yourself -- and then thought you could spin your work off to a printer -- you've probably been in for something of a jolt. The truth is, most of us need help because we don't necessarily know that the requirements for print and online use are vastly different. The problem? How do you actually find a decent graphics person? What should you ask them? What should you expect?

That's where Caren Hackman's book comes in. I read the print version, but apparently it's available in ebook format as well. Anyway, in plain English, she walks you through everything you need to know. Really, she's presented an education in a concise, but very readable format.

Life is short. Don't waste time spinning your wheels when for a very affordable price you can learn in advance what you need to know to actually get the job done. Just my nickel's worth.

J. Daniel Stone is the pseudonym for a hotheaded Italian kid from NYC. He has been a menace to society since 1987 and has, at various times, prepared bodies for the morgue, broke up fights between gerbils and used fire to change the color of the carpet in his bedroom. These days he can be found terrorizing local book stores, art galleries and dive bars boasting about his two bastard children: The Absence of Light (2013) and Blood Kiss (2016). A Stellar Debut

J. Daniel Stone writes for the senses. He delivers prose that takes you beyond the page, pulling you into a world that's not your own but which will come at you, encompass you, cradle you. It will force you to taste the Jäger, smell the smoke, hear the growl of forlorn lyrics and feel the steely blade biting into your flesh. "The Absence of Light" is spooky and strange. It's raw with pain accentuated by the uncertainty of youth and amplified by ghosts lingering in years forgotten by all but a few. There's beauty, too, that shines through the fear, horror and pain. It may be soaked by booze and covered in blood, but it's there, one of the many pieces in this literary puzzle that comes together to create a worthy read.

After being separated their entire lives, twins Rez and Delilah are reunited in New York City, the place where they were born and where their parents were killed, but the one question neither of them have an answer for is what happened that night all those years ago when they were brought into the world? The Absence of Light is one part ghost story, one part alternative lifestyle exploration that explores the themes of identity, loss, and the power of art through poetic language.

First and foremost, The Absence of Light is not intended for younger audiences. This is an adult book filled with alcohol, drugs, sex, gore, and a lot of foul language. It simply doesn't hold back at showing the seedier parts of life, but I can't imagine it having the same impact if it were censored. J. Daniel Stone's writing is thick, filled with poetry and complex sentences that are designed to be savored, not blitzed through in order to get to the next chapter. As a consequence, the book feels slow moving at times, further enhanced by the repetition in the characters' actions, which include circular arguments and a lot of drinking and taking drugs. The first half of the book drags as it takes a while to bring all the major characters together, but once the cast is assembled, the real story gets underway and doesn't stop moving until its thrilling conclusion.

At the heart of The Absence of Light is a ghost story and a set of mysteries. What were the circumstances behind Rez and Delilah's parents' deaths? Are the orbs Clive is able to capture on film really the mark of spirits or just an oddity? And, if they are ghosts, why do the orbs gather around Rez? The book toys with the questions and some of the answers aren't so straight forward; I found my mind raced to fill in gaps and come to my own conclusions as readily as any of the characters.

As fun as the mysteries are, what makes the repetition bearable and makes the book truly enjoyable are the characters: Rez, Delilah, Alex, Clive, Lynk, Hans--while each of them lives the same Goth, cutting, and substance-abusing lifestyle, they each have dramatically different identities and points of view. Hell, the differences established in their art alone, from Rez's writing, Clive and Lynk's photography, Delilah and Alex's music, it speaks volumes to the differences of the human psyche, the importance of self-expression, and all the different venues that can take. While these characters have glaring flaws and can be on the immature side at times, they grow on you a lot as the book progresses. Their alternate lifestyle, while not for me, doesn't seem so bad either by the end, simply a different way of playing the game of life than the rules I'm accustomed to. Stone has a gift for writing relationships between characters. Whether Rez and Delilah's familial connection, the close friendship between Alex and Delilah, or Rez and Alex's new relationship, I felt the love and trust between the characters, which more than anything is what keeps them from giving up on life and instead moving forward towards their dreams.

Dark, Lyrical, Imaginitive—Clever Storytelling in an Impressive Debut

This debut novel was exceptional. I'm loving that Stone's characters Rez and Delilah are not static or destined to live within the pages of one book. By carrying the characters into other works of his, Stone allows these siblings to shine despite their lives in a world filled with darkness, fighting evils both inside and around them.

Stone loves language and the raw, powerful stories it can tell in the form of lyrical, yet often harsh, prose. His own passions are fused into the characters and plot—music, art, literature, poetry, alternative thinking—and a big middle finger in the face of conformity, "the norm", and conservative views.

He is a precocious writer who backs up his confidence with talent, a strong handle on vocabulary and its place in storytelling, beautiful and disturbing imagery, and no lack of imagination. For a debut novel from such a young man, THE ABSENCE OF LIGHT is impressive—and as his characters grow stronger and wiser, his writing does, too.

Bravo, Stone. Bravo.

Lasting Impression

This is the kind of book that you can read quickly but that leaves a lasting impression. I was privileged to read an advance copy and have purchased several as birthday gifts for family and friends. Birthdays are a time to reflect. The memoir details Lori Stevic Rust's reflections as she approaches her 50th birthday and reflects on the lessons learned from her grandmother who celebrates her 100th birthday the same year. Although the author is talking about her own life we, as a reader, are not just spectators to her family but actively engaged by getting to know her family but the reader also gets engaged by reflecting our your own life journey. You get to know Nana and she becomes your Nana. One appreciates Nana's tart and witty idioms and experience how Stevic Rust has made them come alive. There are a lot of books about aging out there. This one is unique and worth purchasing and reading.

Heard about this book from a friend who called it a must read... boy they weren't kidding. Read the book from cover to cover in one sitting. Greedy for Life tells the beautiful story of the impact Emily has had on the lives of the author and her loved ones. It is about three-fold respect: the respect Lori has for Emily, that Emily has for Lori and the respect they both have for life. Highly recommended for anyone that you love, it has left me greedy for more. Can't wait for the sequel about Emily's next 100 years.

Trina Boice grew up in California and recently moved to Las Vegas, Baby! She is the author of 9 best-selling books and has another one coming out this fall. She has a Real Estate license, Travel Agent license, two Master degrees, and a Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do, although she’s the first one to admit she’d pass out from fright if she were ever really attacked by a bad guy. She wrote a column called “The Boice Box” for a newspaper in Georgia, where she lived for 15 years. She taught Spanish at a private high school in San Diego and ran an appraisal business with her husband for 20 years. Wish I'd have had this YEARS ago!!

Growing up I didn't receive guidance or directions on finance. Therefore I've made many mistakes. This book is a MUST for anyone wanting to know what to do - with great suggestions on ways to do it! Easy to read and follow. I would encourage anyone who struggles in today's economy (and who ISN'T struggling?!...) to get this book!

√ Creative Tips: Use a Cucumber to Shine your Shoes!

This is a book on how to stay healthy economically. Most of the ideas are how to avoid wasting money, but there are also ideas for bringing in more income. I THOUGHT I knew just about all these ideas, but I discovered I was wrong! (There's some resources that I'm going to check-out as soon as I'm done with this review!)

► WHY YOU SHOULD BUY THIS BOOK ◄
If you are looking for easy, creative ways to save money, this is the book for you! This book is jam-packed with tons of ideas--some you will likely have already heard of, but others that are new. I definitely found some ideas that I did not know.

► TOP THINGS I LIKED ◄
♦ Emphasis on getting and staying out of debt. I was glad to see the author emphasis that.
♦ Advice on using your own garden. Even if it doesn't save a lot of money, it is a very healthy thing to do.
♦ Discussion on avoiding the Emergency room, in favor of urgent care centers. I think this tradeoff is getting more well known these days, but still, a lot of people unnecessarily go straight to the emergency room.
♦ Discussion on saving electricity. Most readers probably already know about how easily you can save money on lighting, but a lot of folks still are wasting money there. (Disclosure: I work for a large utility.)
♦ Liked the tips on different senior-discount associations (not that I would be old enough to qualify, of course.) I plan to check out the SENIORDISCOUNTS web site.

► SUGGESTIONS ◄
♦ Regarding monitoring of power usage, and the "Google" product, there are some other options. Some utilities, such as PG&E in northern California, provide ways for the customer to easily monitor their energy usage. There are special meters and websites already setup for this.
♦ I was queasy about the recommendation to not use really hot water in your dishwasher, "Wash dishes in warm water, not hot." I'm not sure that's safe, and I think more research is required on that tip. I know that restaurants are legally required to follow a certain temperature, or use a sanitizing agent. It's not clear to me that that is a safe recommendation.
♦ The point about a tax exemption for seniors 65 and older is confusing. Isn't property tax a state by state issue? The text says there are some "federal laws." Also, I think "exemption" is confusing. I believe it really means a slight reduction in your tax.

A Death At the Armstrong Marathon

Extremes (2003) is the second novel in the Retrieval Artist series, following The Disappeared. In the previous volume, Miles Flint and his partner, Noelle DeRicci, are detectives in the Moon Police. They survive and solve three cases involving the Disappeared, people who have been helped to vanish from official view after being convicted of crimes on alien worlds.

Such Disappeared are considered criminals under interstellar treaties signed by the Terran authorities and all Terran police are directed to assist any aliens or bounty hunters who are tracking down such fugitives. These were Miles's first cases as a detective and the obvious injustices in all three instances are more than he can ignore. When he receives a large sum of money, Miles resigns from the force and buys the business of a friend who is a retrieval artist.

After learning as much about the business as he can from Paloma, the former owner, Miles awaits his first case. He is approached by a junior attorney with the firm of Wagner, Stuart, and Xandor, Ltd, to discover the whereabouts of a Disappeared. Miles is suspicious of the offer, especially when the woman mentions that Paloma had worked with them in the past. Fearing that he might be used as a Tracker, Miles refuses the case and then visits a research cafe near the University campus to investigate WSX. Shortly thereafter, Ignatius Wagner, the younger son of WSX's senior partner, shows up to persuade him to take the case.

Meanwhile, Noelle and her new partner, Leif van der Ketting, are directed to the site of the Armstrong Marathon, where the body of a woman has been found on the course. The body appears to be Jane Zweig, the co-owner of an extreme tours company. Zweig's partner, Brady Coburn, has discovered the body curled up in the shade of a very large boulder. When Noelle views the body, she finds several discrepancies that leads her to believe the death was not an accident.

Miriam Oliviari is a Tracker who has come to the Armstrong Marathon looking for Frieda Tey, a medical researcher who has been accused of exposing a group of subjects to a rapidly mutating virus and then cold bloodily observing their struggles and deaths. Miriam has joined the marathon staff as a contract medic in order to collect DNA samples from various suspects. She knows of an incident on the course, but is not concerned since it was reported as a male runner.

These three cases rapidly converge into a single disaster. Noelle gets to show her administrative talents, Miriam displays her leadership abilities, and Miles performs a hot pursuit in space. This rapidly moving story is an excellent sequel to The Disappeared, but sets such a high standard that it may prove a hard act to follow.

Highly recommended to Rusch fans and anyone else who enjoys fast moving suspense stories with twist after twist.

Good SF Mystery/Thriller

I picked this up on a whim and was surprised at how well it blends a near future setting with the police procedural mystery style. A good novel for fans of both genres.
Rauch plays fair with the science and the mystery. Since the reader is privy to information from three different investigators, he or she may well solve plot points ahead of the heroes, but not so far ahead as make the story slow or unsatisfying.
Certainly worth a read in these dog-days of summer.

A nice procedural

I picked up this volume during the "speed shopping" portion of a visit to the bookstore with my son (3 1/2). I didn't expect much from it, so it was a pleasant surprise to get a decently crafted police procedural/detective story coupled with SF. This is a neglected form of science fiction and a good addition is a great blessing.
The book is a bit weak in some areas. The ending is a bit muddled. There are some gaps in this book's exposition that might be explained by the previous volume (which, thank heavens, is not at all necessary to enjoy this one). The writer is a bit more familiar with the mystery genre than with SF. The SF bits aren't very crisp and feel borrowed. The setting on the moon was handled more deftly, for example, in Niven's Patchwork Girl.
But there is a lot here to like. The characters aren't nitwits. The puzzle is pretty good. There's nothing sloppy about the book and the writing is genuinely gripping in many places. I recommend it and will go back and get the previous volume when I get the chance.

A creative addition to the urban fantasy genre

Horsley's debut novel in his Everything Under series offers a new look into the world of the preternatural.

The main character, John Flicker, is a unique synthesis of ghost story and undead (but not zombie) detective. He's pulled in to investigate the mysteriously horrible death of a homeless man, and uses his various connections within the Everything Under to track down the culprit. Overall, the book is a great series beginner and reminiscent of Simon R. Green's Nightside novels or Kate Griffin's Matthew Swift series. It's urban fantasy, but you'll encounter only one vampire (briefly) and no werewolves. Horsley has a much better imagination than that!

The only downside is that it's the first work in a series. So, naturally, some time is spent explaining the world and introducing various personalities, but it remains to be seen if these interesting characters (e.g., the incredibly creepy Spam Tam, or the Telephone Birds) are just one-offs. I hope they will become more fully developed in the future. The book is also chock-full of cultural references that will be rewarding to those who get the allusions.

Bottom-line: I am looking forward to the next book in the series, and curious to know how this new world grows and evolves!

Entertaining urban supernatural horror

Sin Gorge introduces us to the world of Everything Under, a place of werewolves, vampires, fear bottlers, and other creatures seen through the eyes of John Flicker, a bookstore owner in Columbus, Ohio. Flicker is a rarity in Everything Under, a doppelgeist: his undead Body has a consciousness of its own, but is haunted by his also undead Soul, an arrangement with both advantages and sometimes amusing disadvantages. Flicker, who sometimes aids the police with cases outside the norm of human criminal activity, is chasing a monster in Columbus, a very large monster that takes very large bites out of homeless people, sprays them with acid, and sets them on fire. Will he be able to stop the rampage? And what will he find when he does?

An interesting entry in the "urban supernatural horror fantasy genre", it stands out quite a bit by not including a lot of urban supernatural horror fantasy sex. The only thing that bothered me a little is that this is very obviously intended to be the beginning of a series, so a lot of the story is taken up with world-building in ways that isn't always organic to the plot. Overall, I liked this, and would definitely read a sequel.

I just finished the book.
Ron Horsley has created a rich world with vibrant characters.
The story is a gripping horror/mystery that unfolds in an unexpected manner with a dash of eastern mythology thrown in for good measure.
I'm about to read the next one, Jennyripper.

Great Inspirational Book

I want to thank Antonia Geer and Shae Bynes very much for allowing God to let you share this wonderful book "The Kingdom Driven Entrepreneur. I always believed in GOD, but never really thought of him being the steerer of my business. Following the Bible principles in operating businesses that these talented young ladies spoke of in their book makes excellent sense.

As they said in the book "Every seed produces of its own kind (Genesis 1:11, Galatians 6:7). So one must plant a seed for success to achieve success. We have to put in the work to get the results we want.

If all entrepreneurs read and follow the Bible principles the authors write about in this book, I feel that great results can be gained.

Thanks Antonina and Shae for allowing God to use you to write this wonderful Bible inspired book that will bring blessings to all that read and follow. The Kingdom Driven Entrepreneur Companion Workbook is a perfect fit so that the readers can actually get greater results.
