About the Author
Anne Laurel Carter was born in Don Mills, Ontario, in 1953. She left home at 17 to work on a kibbutz in Israel, then in England, France, and California. She returned home at 22 to complete a B.Ed. She taught in Cree communities of N. Quebec until hip dysplasia (the same condition that cripples golden retrievers) forced her to have her right hip rebuilt. It was months before she could walk again! She returned to Toronto to complete a M.Ed, and at 32-years old she got married and started a family.

A Special Bond of Love

This is the second book in the series.
A different kind of love story.
I had the pleasure of reading this story when it was an ARC. It has since been split into two books. But since I read it as one, I reviewed as one and this is the same review I posted on Unmasking Paulie Bingham (Paulie & Kate Part I)
I must say, I am very impressed with the way Ms. Carter writes and kudos for taking on what I think is such a difficult subject matter. It's not a story you could ever imagine and you just need to read it to understand why.
It is a love story, but the love is between a gay man and a straight woman and their relationship is anything but cut and dry. Not your typical boy meets girl, fall in love, get married blah, blah, blah. There are many twists in the story and I found myself always rooting for Paulie because Ms. Carter has made him so likeable you just can't help but fall for the guy.
At the time I read this story, I remember while shopping one day and hearing Bruno Mars' song, "Just The Way You Are" and instantly thought of Paulie Bingham. When a story has the capability of pulling me in at times when I shouldn't have even been thinking about it, that's remarkable writing.

OK,Ok,ok.....I stayed up all night reading this book. I received it yesterday and couldn't wait to read it. And I am SO glad that I did!
For the Love of Katrina Bingham is brilliant! Not reading the blurb as to not wanting to spoil what I was in for ( and the fact that I had no idea that this book even existed), I was so taken back by the tone of this book. Figuring it would be similar to first one, I was so wrong.
It had me gasping in shock, tearing up a few times and yes I let the tears fall at the end (I have the soggy pillowcase to prove it).
Finishing the book, I was left feeling happy and yet sad because it sounds like the end end but hopefully Anne will have a nice little spinoff for cousin Cheryl???
I am definitely a fan of Anne now and look forward to reading more by this talented author!

GREAT FOLLOW UP loved it

If I could give this book more than 5 stars I would.
This is the 2nd book in the series of Unmasking Paulie Bingham. After reading the first one, which I dearly loved, I wasn't sure what to expect from this one.
You know when you get authors who write series, its a bit like watching a 2nd film, never as good, so I went into this book feeling that I was going to be let down [meanwhile I'd had a tooth extraction and a filling all within 2 weeks which took me away from the book sometimes]
I stayed with it, feeling that it was:
1. Either going to keep repeating itself from the first book or
2. be a 'let down'
I can honestly say, It was not! The genre you may question over, what? a woman being in love with a gay man, what is she thinking?! or, this is not going to end good, WRONG on both counts. The author kept me guessing right to the end if they were going to be together or not. And if they did get together, would they marry or not? would the marriage survive if this was the case? how realistic is this book going to be.
VERY realistic. I just loved these characters in this book they became like friends to me. I know that sounds really strange, maybe its because a friend of mine many years ago also fell in love with a gay man that drew me to this book when the author invited me to read it for an honest review. If I didn't enjoy it, I would say so. This author is now one of my favorites. I need to get another book from her!
