About the Author
Rev. Floyd Thompkins, Jr. is a graduate of Bethany College in Lindsborg, Kansas. He received his Master of Divinity from Princeton Theological Seminary where he also was awarded the Eward G. Howell preaching award. Rev. Thompkins served as Assistant Dean of the Chapel for Princeton University. Rev. Thompkins also served as Associate Dean of the Chapel for Stanford University for ten years. He and his partner was awarded the Northern California Kidney Foundation grant to educate churches concerning Kidney donation and end stage life life decisions. Rev. Thompkins also served as Senior Pastor of Antioch Baptist Church in San Jose, California. Currently Rev. Thompkins is the CEO of a nonprofit youth leadership organization

An excellent resource for individuals, congregations, and Christian leaders

This book is a powerful resource for my ministry. As a pastor for over twenty five years I can attest to the fact that "this book will preach". Not only does Thompkins treat biblical texts with diligence and sincerity, he engages the text with the seasoned touch of a man who listens to, understands, and touches people with the grace of God. This recent version of the book has several very useful questions at the end of each chapter. I will be using it in the years ahead to strengthen the witness of care-giving ministries in our congregation. It also is filled with memorable phrases and blessings for my own life and ministry. I cannot commend this book highly enough!
