An Extraordinary Book

While on vacation in New Mexico, I first encountered the magnificent work of Giovanna Paponetti. The life and miracles of Kateri
Tekakwitha are presented here in a singularly beautiful way. The light of Kateri's expressions appears to radiate from within and
each painting provides the beautiful unfolding of the artist's inspired, and yes, blessed, vision. Whether a reader is acquainted
with the story of Kateri Tekakwitha or not, the text and paintings will resonate with the reader long after the pages are first
turned. This is a book to be cherished, by readers of diverse cultures, ethnicities and religions. Thank you, Giovanna Paponetti,
for bringing to life Saint Kateri Tekakwitha.

BEAUTIFUL picture book... but oddly enough, not for children!

I made the mistake of getting this book for my children, I should have looked a bit closer first! It didn't list an age on the description and it appears to be a children's book so it's a bit deceiving. This beautifully illustrated book is for ADULTS OR YOUNG ADULTS, not for children (some of the content is pretty blatant, like the ways she performs penance on herself, etc...) Not quite sure about the picture book structure of the book considering that it's for adults; other than that I will rant and rave about it. BEAUTIFUL illustrations, well-written story about Kateri make an outstanding book that is quite unique and really is a piece of art. Highly recommended for what they said; a collector or anyone interesting in Saints. Kateri is a very interesting saint; I just finished reading another book about her for my fourth grader, if you want more detail that is more kid friendly (4th & up) I suggest reading the historical novel by Evelyn Brown.

Kateri Native American Saint: The Life and Miracles of Kateri Tekakwitha
A thoughtful, well researched book about the life and miracles associated with the Native American Saint, Kateri. I happened to attend a local lecture, in Milford CT, featuring the author talking about the years she spent studying and photographing the tribes to gather her materials for the art she created. She spoke about how each painting she did is actually a composite of several different photographs, poses and historical works of art she referenced. This is her first book, and, I hope, not her last. She's apparently a very sincere Catholic.
