She experienced the painful emotions and asked God endless questions, but God turned her disappointments into appointments with Him and healed her from the grief of infertility. While leading a Christian infertility support group, Lesli formed a deep compassion for others dealing with the pain of childlessness. She created a Christian online ministry, Dancing Upon Barren Land - Spiritual Nourishment for the Infertility Road.

Living With Infertility? DUBL Is An AWESOME Arrow In Your Quiver!

There are few things that can challenge one's spirit in the way that trying to build a family through fertility treatment or adoption can, particularly when your efforts are met with disappointment. The uncertainty, fear, heartbreak, and feelings of inadequacy can be crushing. It can leave you feeling like you have nowhere to turn. In this beautiful little book, Lesli Westfall speaks right to that pain and seeks to uplift her readers with well chosen scripture, and wonderfully written prayers.
Since she has traveled this journey, Lesli's prayers demonstrate an acute awareness of the sense of loss, challenges, and conflict that so many couples are faced with. Each speaks to a different issue and are so spot on! From adoption and finances to fear and baby-related holidays, Lesli generously offers prayers for all.
DUBL is an excellent resource for "done for you" devotionals that can be exactly the instant lift in spirits and hope that you need on this journey. LOVE IT!!

A great resource for those struggling through infertility

I devoured the contents of Lesli's book the second it was in my hands. The whole concept of her book is to dance upon barren land, or find the joy and hope through the trials that we are facing, right now. The purpose of this book is to encourage those who are struggling through infertility. However, whether your "barren land" is infertility, a broken marriage, depression, finances - this book is an incredible resource in encouraging us to live life with hope and joy by diving into God's word, hiding it in our hearts, and mediating on it during our storms. Lesli guides us to...1)Know the importance of prayer even when we don't feel like it while we're going through our desert, 2)How to pray specifically for what we are going through, 3)How to dive into God's word and pray HIS word over our lives and our situations.
The title is geared specifically towards women/men/couples facing infertility, however I think Lesli's book can be an encouragement, no matter what you are going through. There's an entire chapter called "Prayer and Scripture Reflections." She alphabetically lists the different situations and emotions we go through during the infertility journey and for each topic, she writes a prayer prompt for us to pray over these situations and gives us what God speaks over the situation in His word.
However, take the prayers Lesli writes for Decisions, Direction, Disappointment, Feeling Forgotten, Jealousy, or Waiting - just to give you some examples - and tailor them for what you are specifically going through. I immediate dog-eared the prayer and scripture pages for Adoption, Direction, Finances, and Waiting - the situations Aaron and I are facing in this season of our journey. But I also find myself applying the Decisions prayer to the non-fertility related issues that I'm facing in my personal and creative life. Every day I look at Lesli's book and use it as a guide as I pray these prayers and scriptures over our lives.
Dancing Upon Barren Land, is a wonderful springboard for one's prayer life, a motivator to hide God's word in your heart, and a beautiful encouragement and reminder to find the joy and blessings in the middle of your desert.

I am not a woman who has infertility but I know women who do. I cannot imagine being a woman and not being able to have children when it is a desire of my heart. I do know many who have adopted precious children who were not wanted and have been extremely blessed through these adoption, child and parents both. I am not saying that is your answer, I am just sharing with you what I have personally seen in these women's lives who have chosen to adopt.
The writer of this book, Lesli, is no stranger to infertility and has written this heartfelt book to help all women who are going through this. She knows how this feels and has taken great care in writing this book to help those who are going through this.
She begins this book with a chapter on prayer and explains what prayer really is in a wonderful way. My question would be why she didn't put chapter 3 in chapter 1...it is a chapter that explains why we need Jesus Christ in our lives and to me that would be the number one prayer for anyone...just saying....
She then shares "Scripture Reflections" ... I understand the prayers shared in this book but, I have a hard time when others are told to recite them....
Lesli does say read the Scripture Reflections and make a personal prayer of your own which is the correct way to pray...being personal that is.
This is small book and Jesus is in it...would I recommend this book ...
yes....women who go through this need all the help they can get as long as Jesus is in the center.
There are discussion questions in the back that are very helpful too!
