What is the Truth?

Hannah D. Spivey’s “The Bold and the Ugly Truth” is the story of Samuel Lee Baker, a mega TV Evangelist. After being raised to be a Christian, he discovers that everyone who’s using the Lord’s name, including himself, is not always walking the walk or talking the talk. He questions all that he's been taught since childhood.
The concept was very good. Unfortunately, the execution was not. I had such a hard time getting through the book and a very hard time believing most of what I read. There were so many things going on that the storyline did not flow well. From the pastor’s dad disrespecting him and his wife, Pastor Baker's violent outbursts, homosexuality, cursing in church, misbehavior during a funeral, pedophilia, murder, among other things, this was a hard story to follow. The author chose to address too many issues. The focus on Pastor Baker was lost. A lot of the conversations were unbelievable and at times very juvenile.
There were too many errors with who was talking. Example, Pastor Baker called his friend Richie and midway through the conversation the name changed to Roy. The ending was very confusing. I was left with a whole lot of questions and very few answers. With more development of the story needed, I can only give this novel a 1-star rating.

This book has too much going on from what I read. I couldn't go any further with this story, The drama is unbelievable, a lot of it sound really silly! I didn't bother to finish reading it! I don't know if the author intentions was to make this entertaining by adding all the nonsense drama cause it didn't work for me. The way that these characters were acting and speaking, the things that was coming out of the mouths really sound ridiculous, it was unbelievable which was making the story sound fake, not fiction there's a difference. I was turned off. I love books with good drama, too bad this isn't one of them!

For the longest you would think that with all that was going on the main thing would be about Samuel.he was dealing with a lot for being a man of the cloth. A well known televangelist, Samuel was in the public eye.
When dealing with death in the church, scandal,his pen issues with how he feels about God,a pedophile for a father in law,a mother in law who thinks in a demented way and his own father who thinks he knows what's best for his son.What an overwhelming stress.
