I read this in 2 days - great story

This is a great book with so many facets. It's fast paced and I found it impossible to put down. The story evolves very naturally and seamlessly and ends leaving you with a feeling of completeness. Great use of language and there were sentences I read a few times because I liked the way they were worded. Definitely a must-read!

Nicely told story without any preaching or whining

The bank robberies cover the first quarter, prison takes up the second quarter. If that's all you're looking for that's how much you'll get, but you should want to stay on for more. The author talks about his life in a very straight-forward way without whining or excuses and trying to make it a feel-good story. He could have gone off on any number of sermons (issues with the CORI system, the prison industry, prisoner rights), but instead chooses to acknowledge what he did and accepting that he deserved "every minute" of his time in prison.
The story itself is well-told with the author allowing his family members to come across as complicated people. He doesn't let them off the hook because life is complicated, but he also doesn't leave it at "I'll never understand him and that's it." He's goes after the answers he's looking for in his personal life without letting that search interfere with his own progress.

Book with a purpose

I know Bryan from the gym and I have seen him do stand-up a few times but nothing prepared me for this book. I remember wondering if the jokes he told about the jewelry heist were true for quite awhile and this book answered all my questions. I was extremely touched by his honesty and bare-all details. I always wanted to know what was going to happen next. I couldn't put it down. The struggles that he faced are ones that many people could relate to in some facet of their life. He was very real and didn't sugar coat anything. I also live in Boston and it was fascinating to know this happened here. To see Bryan now and what he came from is very inspirational and will reach many children and adults. This is a true accomplishment to publish your own book. A story I hope reaches many in this world.
