Rahiem Jerome Brooks is a member of the Mystery Writer's of America, and his debut street thriller, LAUGH NOW won 2010 AAMBC Book of the Year and he earned 2011 AAMBC Author of the Year. LAUGH NOW also the Most Creative Plot at the DMV Expo's Creative Excellent Awards. Rahiem was also nominated at the 2011 and 2012 African-American Literary Awards.

Murder In Germantown

Ravonne Lemmelle is an attorney that is intelligent, driven and gay. Some may not be able to fathom how he is still married to this estranged wife, takes care of his brilliant son and lives with his lover, too.
Ravonne is no ordinary guy.
When a childhood friend gets accused of killing several people at a party, he turns to Lemmelle for legal eagle assistance. Hellbent on an acquittal for Wydell James to add onto his law belt, Ravonne begins digging into the matter, only to have more people surface.
Can the witty attorney get his client a victory without his own lifestyle being jeopardized?
Rahiem Brooks has found his niche in penning mystery novels etched with edgy suspense. He truly can rival the greats and get away with it on his terms. The characters (primary and secondary) are razor sharp, verbage is stimulating and his cover is eye-pleasing.

Ravonne Lemmelle for President!

First off, I have to say that this is my third read from this author and it is by far, my favorite. I received my first glimpse of Murder in Gertmantown's star, Ravonne Lemelle, in a prior novel of Mr. Brooks titled `Die Later'. Ravonne's minor role in that book piqued my interest and I felt there was something more to the character; I wanted to know more about him, and informed the author of this. Well low and behold, MIG puts smooth criminal defense attorney Ravonne Lemelle front and center to show off his extensive legal knowledge and sarcastic wit. I was overjoyed!
Though MIG centers on a triple homicide in the Germantown section of Philadelphia, this storyline is nicely balanced with an inside look at Ravonne's family life and romantic relationships. I feel Mr. Brook's choice to place a main character who is a black, gay professional raising a young male, in the forefront of this legal thriller was very daring, and I think will shatter many stereotypes and assumptions.
MIG is rightfully classified as Gay Fiction/Legal Thriller as it encompasses both topics harmoniously. Ravonne's relationships with several characters in the book were interesting. I especially liked the strong, loving relationship with his son, Brandon and the lighthearted close-knit bond with his grandmother, Constance.
As Rahiem Brooks expands his literary catalogue, I anticipate the creation of many more memorable characters and tight, intriguing storylines. His knowledge of and attention to courtroom jargon, legal proceedings, and building suspense add to his imaginative storytelling resulting in a very recommendable book.

WHERE DO I START? RAHIEM ANOTHER GREAT BOOK,I WAS SO CONSUMED ON TRYING TO FIND OUT WHO THE CRAZY STALKER PERSON WAS AND WHY THEY WANTED TO DESTROY MR. RAVONNE LEMMELLE, AND I JUST COULD NOT DO IT, FIRST TIME FOR THAT, I APPLAUD YOU FOR THAT ONE, VERY VERY GOOD, THE WAY RAVONNE DIDN'T CRACK UNDER ANY KIND OF PRESSURE,HE WAS STRAIGHT FACED THE WHOLE TIME, SHOWED COMPLETE BRAVENESS EVEN THROUGH HIS WEAKNESS,EVEN WITH HIS PREFERENCE CHOICE HE STILL SHOWN HE WAS ALL MAN,I THOUGHT HE WAS SNATCHED OUT OF A CHAPTER IN A "E.
