About the Author
Robert Webster is a northern Kentucky native and author of numerous articles on local and regional history. He has written three previous books, two of which received Kentucky History Awards. Bob is a 1976 graduate of Holmes High School and attended Morehead State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism. He is a member of the Kenton County Historical Society and, at the time of this publication, proudly serves as their vice president. Tom McConaughy is a longtime friend and former coworker of David Brock, and was well aware of Brock’s experience the night of the tragic fire. When other witnesses stepped forward and Brock began his investigation, Tom signed on without question and soon became one of the investigation’s primary researchers.

Fascinating publication.

This is one of those books that belongs in your personal library. Having my family based in Northern Kentucky gave me insight and historical connections I didn't expect to have. The most intriguing part was the timeline of the day of the fire, followed by the entire history of the tangled mess between the government and the mob. I'm sure you've heard bits and pieces of this tragic event; this book ties it all together. Incredible!

Very enlightening book. we live cl;ose to where the supper club was located and many of our friends have family members who parished in the fire. There are so many contradictory and suspicious facts that surround teh events of that night and the following few days

The Best

We lived in Northern Kentucky at this time it was so hard to watch on TV but you couldn't look away. I just finished this book and loved every word. An easy read and to me educational, I had always wondered what really happened, not sure if it happened as stated in this book but it made more sense than what we were told for so many years. I do believe now there was more involved of wrong doing after reading this book. I would recommend this book for everyone to read..

About the Author
C. J. Patton has been fascinated by horror stories from a young age. Throughout her life she’s written a vast amount of short stories within the genre. As an adult, she has enjoyed analyzing the philosophical, psychological, social, and political implications behind many works of horror. Having graduated college with a philosophy major and art history minor, she is now studying philosophy of film in graduate school in Manhattan. Patton’s first book, The Cutting Edge: Philosophy of the SAW Films, is about the SAW films and their connection to the thoughts of various philosophers across time.

Must have for Saw fans.

Any book title that has the word philosophy in it is usually a pass for me but being a big horror fan I was just too intrigued. This is just a fun book for any fan of the Saw series. The author C.J. Patton basically looks at the moral and philosophical reasoning of Jigsaw (John Kramer)as he kidnaps and traps his victims. It was pretty cool to really try to get into the mind of Jigsaw and I admit I look at the movies a little different now. I need to go watch the series from start to finish again.

Another cool aspect is the "Trap Index" that lists each trap in the Saw series in chronological order. Along with the trap title it includes who set the trap, reason, description, pass/fail, and comments for each one. It was fun to read how the traps would of played out in real time as opposed to what order we actually witnessed them. I had way too much fun reading the trap index and reliving each and every trap. I'm a tad concerned to be honest.

So The Cutting Edge is just a really fun and fast read. Hopefully the author will take on some other horror movie themed books in the future.

Insightful and intriguing

This is a great read. Even if you don't know anything about the SAW movies, this book makes you think about what's right and wrong in a whole new way. It's rare that a critical reviewer digs this deeply and skillfully into the ethical messages of a movie, especially a horror movie. This author did a terrific job of explaining historical principles of moral philosophy and then showing how those concepts are an essential part of the SAW story. It can be really hard to apply academic philosophy to popular culture, but "Cutting Edge" does it really well.

For SAW fans, you will love the thoughtful analysis of the messages and characters, and you will be amazed by the detail and thoroughness of the trap index. C.J. identified some traps that I didn't even realize were traps! Best of all, the book has its own great twist that both echoes and pays homage to the phenomenal plot twists of the SAW films.

My only complaint is that the book wasn't longer, but I couldn't let that lower my rating. Enjoy!

Delving deeply into the mysteries of the human psyche and that which we perceive as right vs. wrong

While not, by any means, a fan of films which have gained a tremendous popularity lately, having become affectionately known, for their gratuitous violence and cruelty as "torture porn" amongst horror film aficionados, I am a huge fan of the Saw series.
How does this series, one might ask, differ from a host of seemingly very similar (yet inferior) films? Author C.J. Patton brilliantly answers this and many other relevant questions in her tremendously well researched and extraordinarily insightful look into the Saw films.
Here we explore, in great detail, the motivation and the mind of one of the cinemas great villains......or, perhaps, one of its most misunderstood heroes.
Author Patton delves deeply into the shadings and grays and charcoals that make up the mind of a serial killer and it is that which most fascinated me.
Jigsaw genuinely feels as though he is performing an ultimate good and service by forcing individuals, for whom the gift of life is unappreciated, to reevaluate through precariously intimate flirtation with near death itself experience.
Patton explores the inner workings of his mind, his thought process, and the flaws within his internal logic which will ad, for those who've seen the films time and again, layers upon layers which escape one during the viewing experience and will greatly enhance ones appreciation of these darkly masterful meditations on good and evil, right and wrong.
For anyone having seen the Saw films this book is an absolute must have addition to one's library and, having read it, one will immediately find the urge to immerse oneself into entire series again with a new understanding which will enhance ones enjoyment of them immeasurably.....
Five stars and an excellent late night read which comes highly recommended to any Saw fan, horror fan or Psychology buff.....

Struggling to survive and find food and water as they battle the hordes of rats and crabs, they eventually turn upon each other. Surviving the island is difficult enough in these harsh, unforgiving conditions. . . but surviving each other proves to be an almost impossible task.

Thorough And Extremely Useful

This is an excellent resource for those that want to become more adept at creating their own Magickal blends.The author has done extensive research. She offers a serious work with traditional Occult techniques from creating and charging the working area, to adjusting the recipes for both safety and creating various forms of the different formulas. This is not the typical so-called 'Witchcraft' book replete with saccharine self-help pop psychology(which I am not criticizing, if it is useful to some in their individual paths), it is a book for those that are desirous to learn very old and traditional ways of working in the Magickal Arts. Ms. Di Gregorio offers the full spectrum, including darker aspects of Work, expecting that her reader is mature and responsible enough to handle the information.Very well done!

Where to start...Fast shipping great read filled with easy to hard potions to perform I recommend this for witch's starting out to pro witch's it also includes incense section that has spells such as Ouija board spells to increase its power so it's even for people who enjoy a good read filled with moon fazes and meanings candle color meaning EVERY SINGLE MAGIC HERBS USE AND NAME (OVER 1000) this books a must buy

Vast Wealth of Knowledge

This was such an informative book! It was exactly what I had been looking for, but did not realize I had found it by purchasing this book. I may not have the discipline to create all of these potions and oils. I have yet to do so. But all of the information on herbs and their properties, as well as information on moon phases, planetary days, and planetary hours, was so helpful and exactly what I had wanted to find in other books, but was unable to do so. Thank you, Sophia diGregorio! You are so helpful and knowledgeable! I will attempt to make some of these potions at some point, but the information presented in the first half of the book made the book worth buying, even if I do not make the potions.. Also, what I like about the author is that she does not judge you or condemn you if you want to put a spell on someone. She leaves the ethics up to you. I really get tired of authors trying to put on a moral sense of self-righteousness by telling you what is right and wrong. Because I absolutely believe that either everything is fated, or we all have free will. If we all have free will, then nobody can make you do anything that you do not want to do. If everything is fated, then it is not our spells that force people to like us, but the will of fate itself. So, either way, fate or free will, you cannot force someone to do something that is not meant to happen. I also believe that we make soul contracts with people, before we are born. So, really, nothing can be forced by a spell that is not supposed to happen. I really appreciate that this author is not self-righteous or condemning. Also, she does not choose one religion or spiritual belief over others. She cites incantations from many religious and spiritual sources that one can use to help create a good work space vibration. She does not stick to one spiritual source, which is great for people who are open-minded spiritually and not religious.

GEEZ where has this book of priceless tidbits been when I could have saved possibly 49 bad dates! This book is funny on top of insightful . Back in collage I could have bought this and emailed it to every guy I knew. It's common knowledge with a twist. Have a guy friend who needs help with the ladies ..... Or the gents for that matter? Open their eyes with this hilarious self help novel. I loved it and will be sending this out for Xmas !

Very entertaining

This book is short, sweet, and hilarious.
There are many references to things that guys should know without having to be told, but having this little book at their fingertips is convenient. I loved the reference to the time allowed for being late.... It is true, Latin countries seem to have a different set of rules on this :-)
Overall, the book is a nice way to tell guys how they should behave, all with a twist for a good laugh.

Snotty pamphlet with hygiene advice, avoid.

This is a very short book. About twenty pages. It is closer to a pamphlet. I wish that I could give it a zero star review.

It was very basic advice given by a condescending and arrogant female author. The advice consisted of snotty hygiene guidelines and archaic double standards.

It is a waste of time and money. I threw my copy away instead of trying to return it.

Corrie Greathouse (corriegreathouse.com) is a writer, reformed relocater, founding member of the Hollywood Institute of Poetics, runner, volunteer, lover of twitter, and fan of the Oxford comma. She has read with Poets Laureate, featured across the country from NYC’s Bowery Poetry Club to her favorite LA bookstore, Skylight Books, Pasadena’s Vroman’s, Barnes & Noble, and Beyond Baroque Literary Arts Center. Her work has been published in The Toronto Quarterly, Falling Star Magazine, and Still Developing: A Story of Instant Gratification. Recognized by the City of Los Angeles for her work bringing literary arts to the community, she also volunteers tutoring homeless children through School on Wheels, and works with aspiring readers as part of the Adult Literacy Program of the Los Angeles Public Library. She has no pets and got her first plants in 2012. She went away to write, came back and they were dead. Born and raised in Orange County, CA, she currently resides in Los Angeles.

A book that steals your heart

Corrie Greathouse brings the reader into a woman's world of love, loneliness and finding life again after loss. Corrie's words envelope the you so that you understand the protagonists emotions so fluidly that they feel as if they are your own. The book is a short read but the words resound long after you close the cover of the book.

Slipping into another's skin

From the very first page, Corrie Greathouse takes you inside the heart and mind of the female narrator: a young, nameless artist grieving the loss of her mother. What little "action" there is (in the conventional sense, at least) is divided between Los Angeles and New England, where the narrator travels to find solace in the wake of her mother's passing. There, she has an all-too-brief relationship with a young photographer and experiences loss of a different variety all over again.

It doesn't seem like much happens, but in poetic, elliptical passages, Greathouse makes you feel as though you've lived -- or, at very least, shared -- the life of this young woman. The writing is so vivid, so specific (and, at times, so brilliantly insightful) it almost transcends language and succeeds as a purely sensory experience, consistently engaging one's own memories.

Enthralling and mysterious, Greathouse has crafted a unique and ultimately quite moving first novella. I'm looking forward to reading her next work.

Ms. Corrie Greathouse captures the essence of longing through the interplay of past and present. `Another name for Autumn' is a generous novella; rich in detail of the often overlooked moments of life. You are guided through a story of remembered pain through the eyes and heart of a lonely yet hopeful young woman; whose sadness and musings interweave a story of hope and light. Ms. Corrie Greathouse breathes triumph into the possibility of love.

As a guitarist and guitar teacher, for over 25 years, I was always looking for a book that would teach scales and the music theory behind them in a fun, useful and musical format. Informative and Well-Designed Book and Videos!

As a guitarist for over 20 years, I have seen a lot of scale and music theory books. Each one is pretty good, but is lacking in one area or another. For instance, most guitar scale books don't provide the finger numbers or the notes on the guitar neck. Many of them also provide scale patterns that are difficult for the hands to learn and are not practical. Almost all scales books that I've seen don't tell you what chords to play the scales over; they just list scale patterns.

The author of this book has done a very good job in making learning scales easy, fun, and musical. Here are 10 features that make it a little "gem":

1. The book begins with easy-to-play scales and progresses to expert-level techniques.
2. It is designed in a lesson-based format. Each page builds on the previous one and is well organized.
3. The information provided is very clear. The lessons are not overloaded with useless, filler material.
4. There are play-along videos to help you get a feel for how the scales work in real music.
5. A huge amount of scales are presented that can be used in many different styles and genres.
6. The fingerings are great and easy to learn.

7. The price is very reasonable.
8. It easily fits in a guitar case or gig bag.
9. It teaches music theory.
10. You will learn the notes on the guitar neck.

I bought this book right after "Guitar Adventures" from the same author Damon Ferrante. I was so pleased with the first one so I decided to give this one a try and I was happy to find again the same features I loved about Ferrante's teaching style. The lessons are very clear, the theory is explained in a very simple way, without taking anything for granted (wich is great for a beginner as I am) and, last but not least, the play along videos are very, very helpful. Get these books, you won't regret it!

Great review for experienced musician

I have a pretty extensive background in music. I have been singing for as long as I can remember in choirs and plays etc. I have also been playing the viola and the flute since elementary school! I have had numerous hours of training in reading and playing music. The guitar has always been an instrument that I have wanted to play. However, I am not one that can afford lessons... That being said, this book is PERFECT for someone like me. Even with my background as a musician, the detailed lessons are a great review for me as well as a clarification for some things. The book is easy to follow and the addition of picture visuals and video tutorials make it that much easier. My favorite addition is the play alongs at the end of the lesson that allow you to apply techniques and scale work. This is a great book and I am so excited to put it to great use!!
