Fantastic!

Ready, Aim, Soar! is a fantastic work that showcases amazing and brilliant authors, coaches, and entrepreneurs who tell their inspirational stories of triumph in the face of adversity--both personally and professionally. This collaboration of life journeys provides encouragement for people like me who aspire to write, speak, and touch the world with my message and passion. From the Forward by Joe Vitale all the way through the section in the back that offers special free gifts from the contributors, I was lifted up with every page! I can't believe where some of these people came from. Just when you think your situation is destitute and you may never actualize your own dreams, you can open the pages of this treasure and find that some of these brilliant minds were homeless, abused, divorced, and much more. It is crazy how far they came to the point now where they are making income that most of us could only dream of, and they are realizing their dreams. This is a priceless resource that I will have in my library for years to come. I can't wait to get the other books in the series!

Ready, Aim, Soar! is a book that can and should be read over and over again. There are many wonderful pearls of wisdom contained within the pages of this inspirational anthology. Expert Insights Publishing has created a tremendous opportunity for small business owners, life coaches, mentors, and most varieties of self-help gurus to wade into the waters of authorship without having to tackle the onerous task of self-publishing and marketing on their own.

Some of the participating teachers and authors are household names like Joe Vitale. Most of the contributions come from a plethora of successful business people and life coaches who are well known within their circle of influence and are in-demand professional speakers. Add to this respectable list a number of lesser-known patrons who offer messages in most cases just as profound as their more famous fellow writers.

The real beneficiaries of this work are the readers themselves who are treated to 40 six-page articles. The contributors address their expertise and interests in a question-and-answer interview format that is generally well written and descriptive of the core message they wish to convey to readers. Topics include messages of inspiration and success, accomplishments in business, technology, media, etc. as well as health, happiness and personal fulfillment.

Quite a read!

Angela Kaelin's Spells for Money and Wealth is an interesting work which describes ways in which magic can be used to help you pay for bills or turn the odds in your favor. It begins with a brief description of the differences between money and wealth, which I think is very important. She describes money as something you use in exchange for something else, and wealth as the things you acquire.

The book then describes how to make your own money and wealth talisman, which basically a small bag filled with herbs and rocks specific to what you desire. It then lists many dozens of herbs, oils, and gemstones and their association with certain types of wealth. For example, allspice and juniper berries are used for good luck in regard to business and so is malachite. The rest of it describes casting methods and components needed to perform a variety of spells relating to specific desires regarding money and wealth, such as job promotions, business ventures, and so on.

I approached this ebook from the perspective of someone with no prior knowledge to magic and found the work rather fascinating. I know some people would be disturbed by the subject matter, but the look inside these practices is really interesting and worth a read even if you don't intend to do any casting. The author writes quite clearly and describes the purpose of each spell in such a way that it doesn't feel glossed over like she's trying to sell you something.

I dont think it works

I bought this ebook a while ago and performed a ritual as mentioned in the book, but it did not show any effect at all. Maybe I was not following the exact timing and other necessary tools. Or maybe I was performing the rituals with doubtful thoughts. Either way, I will try to perform the rituals again to see if it works.

Big Melting Pot - Not for me

While I have to sadly agree with the 1-star rating comment “this book was nothing like what I expected”, that review was so enigmatic (and follow-up comment confusing), that I couldn’t really base my purchasing decision on it. Since I ended up returning the book too, I wanted to provide prospective buyers with more insight on my decision.

As explained at length by another reviewer, the book has a nice structure and lots of detail. In theory, I also liked the fact that it was non-denominational and drawing from different paths. Despite having read (and enjoyed) other books with similar claims, I was NOT prepared for the extent and way this author did it. Instead of borrowing concepts or general practices from different paths or religions, she took actual text/prayers and repackaged them into her own spells in a way that I personally found very disturbing and disrespectful and something that I really could not buy into. For this reason, I knew that the spells would not work in MY hands and decided to return the book. I ended up getting “Everyday Moon Magic: Spells and Rituals for Abundant Living” by Dorothy Morrison instead (an author I was already familiar with from her "Craft" book) and the money spells I tried from there have worked great for me.

Robert Herman's The New Yorkers is as much an historical document as it is art. It records a time in American history both by showing what people and culture looked like in the early 1980s and by presenting an aesthetic of that time. In the age of cell phone cameras, where imaging has become conversation, it is easy to forget the relative rarity of well made photographs from the last century. Unlike today, in 1982 a camera on the street drew attention making Herman s captures all the more pure for the lack of posturing for the camera. Robert Herman s collection is easily compared to the now exalted work, The Americans by Robert Frank. Herman s work is not imitative as much as it is a reaction to or micro-view of New York through the narrative style that Frank brought to photography. Certainly Herman knew of Frank s work when he was making the photographs in The New Yorkers, but in 1980 The Americans had not gotten the full universal acceptance and regard it developed in the last twenty years, becoming a basic text for street photographers. Walker Evans influenced Frank. Frank influenced Herman. All of this would be interesting, albeit unimportant, if Herman s photographs did not stand alone. They do. The 128-page collection shows us a New York that is fading in memory. His photographs take us into corners and alleys that were not preserved by the recorded media of the day. His vision is to capture those small, everyday things that define and describe the time. He sees and records the nuances of life that his contemporaries walked right by, often turning their heads to avoid seeing. Anyone who spent time in New York in the early 1980s will see truth in these images rarely described by history. The images are honest in a way only photographs made before Photoshop can be. Herman uses light and shadow to create tension and reveal the mood of the New York street. His frequent capturing of reflections and glances caught through windows or just beyond moving pedestrians gives the still photographs the active feel of a city on the move. Closed Sunday, brings to mind Hopper s Nighthawks, but in an even darker and more foreboding way. The photographs use color, or the absence of it, to show human struggles for attention in a world of gray concrete. One example, Sylvette and Smithereens, sees a brightly painted van against the monochromatic buildings rising from the pavement. New things can be discovered each time a viewer enters the The New Yorkers. It s a rich gallery of images that takes time to fully digest and appreciate. It will be an important addition to any collection of photography volumes. About the Author
"Robert Herman has been a street photographer since his days as an NYU film student back in the late 70's. Using his father's Nikon F and a 50mm lens, he began by exploring the city as a means to connect with the people in his neighborhood and learn the craft of making images. His photos of New York City, shot between 1978-2005 on Kodachrome, are now collected in his first monograph: The New Yorkers. His work is part of the permanent collections of the George Eastman House and the Telfair Museum in Savannah, GA. His photographs are also in many private collections including Westin and Marriott Hotels. In 2011, images from The New Yorkers were exhibited at the Istanbul Photography Museum. Most recently, his solo exhibition "A Waking Dream was shown at the Museum of Modern Art in Cartagena, Columbia. He has a BFA in Filmmaking from the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University and received his Masters in Digital Photography from the School of Visual Arts in NYC. His love of light and color, and making images that find the transcendent in the seemingly mundane, continues to this day.

The streets are alive

New York delivers yet again. Even before the Photo League, Weegee, Berenice Abbott and her 1939 masterpiece 'Changing New York' the city has bought out the creative best in so many photographers. This book confirms that Robert Herman has felt the cities vibrancy and produced some wonderful photos.

What I liked about so many of these images is the color. An ordinary street scene suddenly comes alive because Herman has seen the richness of a yellow wall with red graphics (page thirteen) or red brick building with green painted ironwork with the addition of a large piece of cloth falling to the road (page forty-seven). The book's cover has elements of this color richness: the green car with a red building and green window frames seen through the car's windows and to make it even more interesting two passerby and the reflection of another vehicle.

Like the best photobooks the flow of images as the pages are turned works so well. Long shots, medium distance shots and portaits of individuals (plus the occasional blank page) blend together seamlessly. The book's format also helps, the eighty-eight photos are mostly same size landscape shots centered on the page plus wide margins and printed on good matt art with a 175 screen.

Most of the photos are from the eighties but they all have a rather timeless feel and I think they'll look just as fresh next year or in ten years time.

Captures New York better than any photo collection I've seen

Whether you lived in New York during the 70s or 80s or just want to know about it, Herman's photographs are the next best thing to being there. He captures the beauty, the pathos, the diversity, the humor and the grittiness of so many different parts of the city. Each photograph is a story and summons up different memories. It is a collection that I find myself returning to again and again. And one that is the perfect gift for friends and families who are besotted with NYC. Bravo to Robert Herman!

it is a book of brilliant photographs of New Yorkers

Yes, it is a book of brilliant photographs of New Yorkers. But the transcendent beauty is the fact that it is actually a book about humanity. I wasn't prepared to emotionally connect so strongly with this work, it was a grand surprise. Along with the charming, poignant, surreal, suspicious, tender moments there is a thread of vulnerability that regardless of subject, exists in all the images.
Absolutely captivating photographs in a majestically produced book.

Please save your money

This is my second JNL book. You would have thought that I would learn the first time and not buy another one, but the title lured me in. I mean, who doesn't want a sexy body? To me, that's the only reason to ever go on a diet. Overall, this was another catalog of all of her items (clothes, etc.) with a few tips you'd find in any Cosmo. I skimmed through it in 10 minutes and was completely unimpressed. But I blame myself. I should have known better than to try another one of her books. There was no diet to speak of. Just a grocery list of the foods we aleady know we should eat and a few recipes. The workout section only directed you to her DVD Fusion set. Please, save your money, or if you're looking for sexy body tips, save a few bucks and buy Cosmo.

The Jennifer Nicole Lee Sexy Body Diet is insightful and a very powerful motivator for women everywhere. I saw this and got it for my wife... really not knowing what to expect. I was astounded at how it effected the manner in which she viewed herself. THANK YOU Jennifer Nicole Lee for making this husbands life a much better place.

Dan Gheesling is a 29-year-old author, coach and speaker. He is best known for winning the CBS’ Reality TV Show Big Brother. Dreams Come True

I have followed Dan Gheesling for over 4 years. I read both the book and the "How To" guide. I think it's a well written, wonderful, honest view, of someone who had a dream and no matter what the obstacle, never allowed anything to get in his way. You don't even have to want to do what Dan did, getting on The CBS TV reality show "Big Brother", to like or buy his book. But Since Dan HAS been on Big Brother TWICE, I would consider his advice as expert!....You don't have to love reality tv to like this book. If you have a dream, any dream, It's a terrifc story about how, if you never give up, you can make your dream come true too. Great Book! :)

Short but interesting

While this book was a bit overpriced (it was free for the first few months it was released), it still is a great quick read and provides really good insight into the reality TV casting process (in particular, CBS's Big Brother).

I am a huge fan of Dan Gheesling, and I have read this book a couple of times while taking short flights over the last month. Definitely a motivating story, and would have been a 5 star if it was a little longer or cheaper.

Fascinating insider look at Big Brother casting

It's tough to classify this book as either a memoir or as some kind of self-help, advice book, but it's definitely worth a read for anyone who is a big fan of Big Brother. Understanding the casting from the perspective of a participant makes watching the show a little bit more rewarding when you know what the people on the show had to go through just to be in the house in the first place.

Survivor fans might also enjoy the book because Dan does talk about applying for that show as well. In that sense, really anyone who is interested in reality TV in general might enjoy the book. With it being such a quick read - only 60 some pages on Kindle - it's worth the read if you have any interest in trying to understand shows like Big Brother more than the surface level.

What Christians Should Know About 50 Shades of Grey

The author discusses sex from a Biblical perspective, not an adult erotic perspective. She writes "Should Christians read books such as 50 Shades of Gray? Maybe they shouldn't read it and here's why. 50 Shades is classified in the category, erotica. It means, according to the U.S. Dictionary,literature or art intended to arouse sexual desire." She defines erotica literature and explains how it fits within the context of scripture. Then she connects scripture verses to God's intention for sex between a man and woman, within a marriage. She encourages Christians not to judge those who choose to read 50 Shades of Grey, and instead judge only themselves. She gives suggestions on how to have conversations about the book without being critical or hurtful of others.

I've encountered many people who are reading 50 Shades of Grey. When a 14-year-old friend of my daughter said she read the book 50 Shades of Grey, I was shocked and asked "What did your Mom say about this?" The teenage girl replied, "she doesn't know what it's about. She heard of the book, knows it's popular and doesn't know what's inside." Her mom bought the book and thought it was a teen book because it was sitting next to Hunger Games Mocking Jay in a large warehouse store. Then the girl went on to say she that she didn't like the book 50 Shades of Grey and threw it away. I've heard many people say they didn't like 50 Shades of Grey, yet book sales continue to escalate based on the interest in adult erotica.

Reading this book will help you determine if you should join the crowd and read 50 Shades or Grey, or not. My only drawback to the book is the lack of editing. There are numerous grammar errors...and the exclamation point is overused. Hopefully as the popularity of this book grows, an updated and edited version will be released with commas in their proper location and fewer exclamation points!

Update: Since I wrote my review, the publisher has contacted me to advise that a new edited copy of the book has been published on Amazon, without the grammar errors I mentioned in my initial review.

A Grey View of 50 Shades of Black and White

50 Shades of Black and White: A Biblical Response to 50 Shades of Grey was an incomplete read for me. Because I am a Christian the 50 Shades of Grey book did not even arouse or peak my interest, so I have not read it. However, I am fully aware of it's contents because of the publicity. I was excited to read this book because I am a single Christian woman and I conduct all female Bible study groups, so I read this in anticipation of having material to use for my Bible study groups. While the topics were relevant and had the potential to give to great Christian discussion, I found the book to be topical, scattered and rushed. I was disappointed because the topic needs to be discussed among Christians. The book content was not deep, nor detailed enough for experienced adult women to use as a guideline for discussion, nor was it contemporary enough to use with teenaged girls. The author jumped around the topics and the subjects, scattering personal tidbits and scripture causing the book to be questionable and passages reread as the flow of the topics were often interrupted. In the hands of an experienced Bible student 50 Shades of Black and White has the possibility of being additional material for a lesson. In the hands of a person searching for guidance and advice the Black and White was very Grey.

I am so glad that there is a biblical perspective to 50 Shades of Grey. A lot of christian people are reading these books not realizing this is not what God intended!!!! It is refreshing to have a biblical perspective on what God desires for us and our marriage. I am thankful for the people who stand for what they believe in and aren't afraid to be unique. That is what we as christians are called to do. Thanks again for writing this book!!!!

What an excellent book

This is an excellent book, within the first 2 chapters I leaned more about the Immune system than I have in the past 47 years. It is a great read and backed up by excellent, well documented research. If you are looking for a clear and easy to follow path to better health and a better understanding of the ways that you can impact your health you need to read this book!!

Wow!..This book is amazing and shows what you can do on your own to avoid the ravages of heart disease and cancer, while at the same time reducing your risk of getting other chronic diseases. A well researched must read for everyone over 50.
I highly recommend and will keep a copy for many years to come.

Author's Note: I have always considered myself somewhat of a zombie aficionado. Books, comic books, movies, video games; I grew up a huge fan of horror. I always had the same problem with every new story I got a hold of though. Zombie stories often have unrealistic heroes or villains. Sometimes they take strange turns and start going way out in left field. No one ever takes the time to explain why zombies started walking around, or how they are able to accomplish such a feat. A barrel of top secret chemical falling off of a truck, or the strange patient zero from nowhere that infects the world was just not cutting it any more.

One day I just decided that I had read my last zombie book that begins after the zombie apocalypse for a while. I want to know what happened during the first thirty days or even the first five years. I don't want to read another book where everything is just fine and then like the snap of a finger thousands of zombies just magically appear around the corner. I want some explanation. I waited and waited, but no one ever wrote a zombie story the way I thought it should be told. So.

I started doing research on medical conditions, military history, weaponry and survival. About a year later, Atrum Terra: Dark Lands was finished. It is a zombie book that is about as real as it gets. This is a book that you can put down and think, something like this could really happen. It is written through the eyes of average people, with real emotion and real situations. It explains exactly what the zombie virus is, how it comes about, and who is responsible for it. This is not just another zombie book. This is more of a book about a world war, a final world war in which a zombie like condition plays a part. This is the zombie story I always wanted someone to tell.

A Solid First Zombie Novel

The Ministry of Zombies was kindly given a review copy of this new zombie novel. Makes sense. Zombies are our thang....

Anyway, on to the story....well, not quite.

Firstly, I want to highlight the very neat chaptering and `parts' in this book. It seems a bit old fashioned to put in prologues and epilogues but it works really well here - one setting the scene for the novel, the other leaving the reader hanging (as all good series should!)

The is a genre zombie book and will therefore have a wide market but one thing I will say for it is that it offers quite some depth into why things happened. These details are cleverly revealed as the story develops.

Atrum Terra tells the story of two different characters and really how they cope with Doomsday. I don't want to give too much away but they don't just have the zombies to deal with.

The major pluses in this book are the dialogue which I think is well done and the clear military background of the author. I was going to just write that but then I clicked on his profile and realised he was a military man - makes sense then!

There are also some very keenly observed people details in there and I felt like I knew a few of the characters in it....

There are elements in there familiar to any lover of the genre and I'm sure over time the author will develop his style and the story but for now, we have a very solid first novel and a good read.

It's good indicator that I only got it a week or so ago and just meant to have a quick look at it but ended by getting through it in a few days.

I look forward to seeing where the author goes next with it.

Very Good Thriller With One Problem

Atrum Terra: Dark Lands: A Potentially True Zombie Apocalypse is a good solid apocalyptic thriller that once I started I could not put down. The characters are believable and you care about what happens to them. Author Brenton Cox has demonstrated that he can handle a good story and he's not afraid to "kill his darlings" which makes for a gripping tale. The action is well described and as a reader I was never lost in all the activity going on and the narrative was not slowed down with unnecessary description.

This book cries out for a sequel and I am waiting for one.

However, one caveat. The book itself cries out for a good editor. I found an uncomfortable number of typos, formatting errors, and though the dialogue was well done, the author did not create a new paragraph every time the dialogue went to a new speaker. This created quite a bit of confusion and took away the enjoyment of being lost in what is actually quite a good story.

So the book deserves a good four stars, but the editing and formatting mistakes take away a point. Fortunately, all of this is repairable in a new edition.

ADDENDUM: I received a note from the author who has informed me that since my purchase, he has uploaded a new version that corrects the editing and formatting errors. I have changed my review, therefore, from three stars to four.

Tom Clancy's Red Storm Rising meets The Walking Dead

If Tom Clancy's Red Storm Rising and The Walking Dead had a love child, it would look like Atrum Terra. The Russians and Chinese start WWIII by hitting the U.S. with a sucker punch. They unleash a horrifying biological agent and follow it up with an EMP attack. Most of America is left in the dark ages. The survivors must fight a growing zombie epidemic, brutal bandits and the loss of 100 years worth of technological advancement. Only a small group Uncle Sam's Misguided Children are there to stop the Chinese Marines when they hit U.S. Beaches. If you are a fan of Z.A. Recht, Joe McKinney or Jonathan Maberry I highly recommend Atrum Terra.
